Mike Fizzell

Private Strings Instructor

Mike has over 35 years of experience in public and private music instruction and performance.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the University of Texas at Austin where he served as rotating concertmaster of the U. T. symphony orchestra.  He played for nine years in the Austin Symphony first violin section and was the principle second violinist with the Austin Lyric Opera for its first five seasons.  Mike founded and directed the Christian Youth Orchestra of Central Texas and the Christian Youth Symphony of Austin for 15+ years.

Mike teaches private string lessons and leads string ensembles and orchestra with One Day Academy North (where he also teaches Biblical Worldviews), Round Rock ISD secondary schools and is now very happy to be offering instruction with Arts Avenue.  He freelances as a professional violinist in the central Texas region, teaches privately at home, and manages and performs with the Rose Strings Quartet and Trio.

He and his wife Cindy have been married for 37 years, have 3 grown wonderful children and 1 amazing, 9 month old grandson.

Mike loves the Lord and desires to bless and to share music with his students.
