Alex

Dance Teacher

Alexandra began her dance career in Bakersfield, California. At the age of 3 she started ballet and musical theater training at Linda Larma’s Academe of Dance. She continued her ballet training with Kathy Correa at Dancers’ Workshop, where she found her love and passion for dance. Later, she moved to Texas and trained in ballet, pointe, jazz, hip hop, tap, contemporary and lyrical at Performing Arts Studio in Georgetown. During her time at Performing Arts Studio, she found the inspiration to share her love for dance with others and became a teaching assistant for Ms. Lisa Shoup-Rathbone and Mrs. Diane Anderson. After starting her career in Texas, she participated in numerous conventions and competed in many dance competitions and showcases with the Infinity Dance Company.

Alexandra attended Southwestern University where she majored in Psychology, and minored in Communication Studies. Alexandra was an active member of the SU Pom Squad for four years, serving as a Captain for three of those years. During her time on the SU Spirit Squad, she had the opportunity to compete at both UDA (Universal Dance Association) and UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association) collegiate competitions, earning superior awards each time. Alexandra was also a part of the Georgetown Ballet Company for 5 years, and has performed lead roles in The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Coppelia. Currently, Alexandra is a member of the Austin Lady Vipers Dance Team, a Coach for the Southwestern Pom Squad, and an avid dance teacher of many genres around the Austin area.

With 20 years of dance experience, Alexandra has come to appreciate the discipline, commitment, and determination that dance requires. She finds it so important to embrace each child’s individuality, and teach healthy life habits and lessons. She is eager to inspire young dancers to pursue their dreams and careers, and further share their love of dance with the world. She has been teaching and choreographing group, individual, and dance team competition pieces for 5 years. Her specialties are in ballet, tap, team and show jazz, pom, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, musical theater, turns/leaps & conditioning, and acro/stunt. Alexandra is honored and thrilled to return to Arts Avenue for a fourth year and share her experience and knowledge with your dancers!
